art gallery fürth | Opening hours & Exhibitions

The art gallery fürth is the municipal gallery of the city of Fürth and a clearly positioned place for contemporary art in the center. Since 2002, it has presented changing exhibitions featuring regional, national, and international artists in solo, group, and thematic formats. Those looking for a compact, easily accessible, and at the same time demanding art address will find here a gallery with a precise profile, modern mediation, and a strong connection to current art events. The location at Königsplatz 1 makes the visit particularly uncomplicated, as the gallery is located in the heart of the city center and can be quickly reached by public transport. The house combines exhibition, conversation, education, and public engagement in a way that appeals to both spontaneous visitors and art-interested regulars. For this reason, the art gallery fürth functions not only as a place for the classic exhibition visit but also as a space for discovery, exchange, and regular return. Opening hours, admission, and directions to the art gallery fürth

For practical planning, it is especially important that the opening hours are linked to the exhibition operation. During the exhibition periods, the art gallery fürth is open from Wednesday to Saturday from 1 PM to 6 PM, and on Sundays and public holidays from 11 AM to 5 PM. It is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, and regular visits are not possible during exhibition changes. Therefore, those who want to be sure should check the current notices before heading to Fürth, especially if the visit is planned for a specific occasion. This clear structure is typical for a municipal art hall that invests its energy primarily in changing presentations rather than in daily ongoing operations. For visitors, this is both pleasantly manageable and a good reason to choose dates more consciously and consider the exhibition rhythm. ([kunstgalerie.fuerth.de](https://kunstgalerie.fuerth.de/besucherinfo/oeffnungszeiten-anfahrt-eintritt))

The admission fee is also deliberately kept low. The regular price is 4 euros, and the reduced admission costs 2 euros. Groups of ten or more pay 3 euros per person, and there is an additional charge of 1 euro for guided tours. Children and young people up to 18 years have free admission, as do certain other groups under official regulations. This keeps the gallery attractive for individual visits, families, and groups alike, without unnecessarily raising the threshold. This is particularly advantageous for a spontaneous art visit on the weekend, as the gallery can be experienced without much preparation. At the same time, a closer look at the program is worthwhile, as the visit can be significantly deepened with guided tours or art discussions. For those coming from the surrounding area or wanting to combine their city stroll with art, this pricing model offers a well-calculated and fair solution. ([kunstgalerie.fuerth.de](https://kunstgalerie.fuerth.de/besucherinfo/oeffnungszeiten-anfahrt-eintritt))

The journey is very uncomplicated in everyday life. The art gallery fürth is accessible via the U-Bahn line U1 as well as by buses to the Rathaus stop. Thus, it is located in an area that can be easily combined with a city center walk, a café visit, or other appointments. The official location at Königsplatz 1 emphasizes this central position. It is also important for people with mobility impairments that a disabled parking space is designated on Henri-Dunant-Straße. Those arriving by car should consider the city center location and the respective local conditions and allow enough time for arrival. Overall, the gallery is positioned so that it remains easily accessible for both public transport users and pedestrians. The combination of a central location, clear opening hours, and manageable admission makes the art gallery fürth a very practical cultural address. Exhibitions, Display, and the current program of the art gallery fürth

The heart of the art gallery fürth is its exhibition program. Officially, four to five exhibitions are shown there each year, usually as solo, group, or theme-related presentations. This rhythm ensures that the house continually opens new perspectives without losing its clear focus on contemporary art. Particularly noteworthy is the mix of local relevance and international openness: The gallery showcases artists from the region as well as positions from Germany and abroad. This results in a program that not only reflects a local art venue but also places Fürth in a larger art historical and cultural context. For visitors, this means that a return visit is almost always worthwhile, as content, works, and curatorial focuses change regularly. Those who come today will never experience the same gallery as a few months ago. This dynamism is precisely what makes the appeal of the house. ([kunstgalerie.fuerth.de](https://kunstgalerie.fuerth.de/besucherinfo/oeffnungszeiten-anfahrt-eintritt))

A special role is played by the Display series. Here, the gallery's window front is used as an additional, publicly visible presentation space. This is a nice example of how the art gallery fürth considers public space and makes art visible not only inside the house but also in the urban space. The series is independent of the interior and can therefore be curated in a very autonomous manner. In this way, a shop window character is created that piques the curiosity of passersby and simultaneously offers a low-threshold access to art. The current and past displays featuring works by Günter Derleth show how powerful this form of presentation can be: The window front is not only used decoratively but is understood as an independently meaningful stage. For people who land on the art gallery fürth while searching for photos or images, this visual openness is particularly helpful. It makes the gallery comprehensible even before the visit. ([kunstgalerie.fuerth.de](https://kunstgalerie.fuerth.de/ausstellungen/display?utm_source=openai))

In everyday life, this program means primarily one thing: The art gallery fürth is not a rigid house with a single permanent exhibition but a lively gallery with a constant change of content. This suits visitors who want to experience contemporary art not just as consumers but as participants. The exhibition themes range from painterly positions to photography and video to experimental formats and spatial installations. Due to the small and manageable structure, one can usually absorb a presentation concentrated and without haste. This is ideal for those who do not simply want to rush through rooms but want to take time for individual works, visual ideas, and curatorial contexts. Those who follow current images and program information on the website can also adapt their visit well to the ongoing exhibition situation. Especially because content changes regularly, the gallery remains a place of discovery and return in the best sense. ([kunst-galerie-fuerth.de](https://www.kunst-galerie-fuerth.de/))

Photos, images, and visual impressions of the art gallery fürth

The interest in photos or images from the art gallery fürth is quite understandable, as the gallery itself works very strongly with visual impressions. Already on the homepage, large-format excerpts of current works appear, supplemented by captions, artist names, and references to ongoing exhibitions. The exterior view of the window front is also prominently displayed. This creates a realistic impression in advance of how the house visually presents itself and what attitude it takes towards contemporary art. Therefore, those who want to inform themselves before the visit will not find mere text information on the official website but a consciously image-oriented presentation. This is helpful because it makes the atmosphere of the house palpable even before the first step inside. For a gallery that focuses on contemporary art, this visual language is not a side effect but part of the concept. ([kunst-galerie-fuerth.de](https://www.kunst-galerie-fuerth.de/))

Furthermore, the press section on the website provides image material. There, official motifs, logos, and photos intended for reporting or editorial use can be found. For interested visitors, this is also interesting as it provides another visual access to the gallery. One recognizes not only works but also the way the house communicates outwardly. The combination of exterior views, work images, and accompanying press service shows that the gallery consciously maintains its visual identity. Thus, those searching for images from the art gallery fürth get a good impression of its architecture, facade effect, and changing exhibitions. This is particularly helpful for the search intention for photos, as it not only provides pretty motifs but also explains the character of the house. The gallery appears open, clear, and urban without being overloaded. ([kunst-galerie-fuerth.de](https://kunstgalerie.fuerth.de/besucherinfo/presse?utm_source=openai))

Additionally, the social media channels provide ongoing insights into exhibitions, events, and room atmospheres. On the official website, Instagram and Facebook are explicitly mentioned as information sources. This is practical for users who prefer to plan with images rather than lengthy texts and want to get an impression in advance. Especially with changing exhibitions, a current look at the channels can help better assess the atmosphere. Thus, the gallery is also perceived digitally as a visually vibrant place. For a search query for images or photos, this is an important point: One finds not only individual work images but also a continuously updated impression of the house in motion. Those planning a visit can thereby better assess whether the current exhibition, the window front, or the architectural appearance fits their own interest. In this way, the gallery becomes not only informative but also aesthetically tangible. ([kunst-galerie-fuerth.de](https://www.kunst-galerie-fuerth.de/))

Guided tours, art discussions, and art education at the art gallery fürth

A central feature of the art gallery fürth is its educational approach. The house sees itself not only as a place where art is exhibited but also as a place where art can be jointly explored. Therefore, guided tours, artist discussions, events, and a diverse educational program are firmly part of its profile. These offerings are aimed not only at a specialist audience but at people of different ages and with various prior knowledge. So, those who want to understand rather than just look will find good conditions here. This is particularly valuable in contemporary art, as current artistic positions often benefit from discussions, contextualizations, and open questions. The gallery thus relies on a format that deepens the visit content-wise while remaining low-threshold. Visitors can not only view the exhibition individually but also read it anew in exchange with others. ([kunst-galerie-fuerth.de](https://www.kunst-galerie-fuerth.de/))

There are also specially developed offerings for schools, daycare centers, and other educational groups. The website describes programs for daycare centers, after-school care, and schools, and the workshops aim to make art experienceable through practical and playful approaches. Particularly interesting is the Art Work Room, which is used during the renovation phases between exhibitions. It is located in the House of Cultural Education at Gartenstraße 14 and serves as a place for workshops that can take place without a prior exhibition visit. This expands the reach of the art gallery fürth beyond the actual gallery building. Art education thus becomes visible not as an addition but as an important part of the overall offering. For families, classes, or groups, this is a strong argument, as it allows for not only an exhibition visit but a whole learning and experience context. ([kunstgalerie.fuerth.de](https://kunstgalerie.fuerth.de/kunstvermittlung/workshops-im-kunstwerkraum?utm_source=openai))

What is particularly convincing is that this mediation does not come across as dry or didactic but focuses on encounter and active engagement. Artist talks, lectures, and readings complement the exhibitions and create occasions where content can be experienced from different perspectives. This is especially important for a gallery of contemporary art, as the works often only unfold their full depth in conversation. Thus, those who visit the art gallery fürth do not only experience a hanging of works but a curated overall offering of seeing, hearing, and asking questions. For people who want to take art with them, discuss it, or use it in educational contexts, this is a clear added value. The gallery clearly shows that it is not only there for quiet viewing but also for active learning and mutual understanding. This mix makes it attractive for different target groups. ([kunst-galerie-fuerth.de](https://www.kunst-galerie-fuerth.de/))

Accessibility, service, and visitor comfort at the art gallery fürth

Even in practical services, it is evident that the art gallery fürth is oriented towards a realistic and user-friendly visit. There is a ramp and a self-opening door in the entrance area. The upper floor of the gallery is accessible via a stair lift operated by staff. Additionally, a barrier-free WC is available in the basement, which is also accessible via an elevator. This information is important as it allows for an honest assessment before the visit and facilitates planning. At the same time, the gallery makes it clear that its accessibility is limited and certain areas may not be accessible or only partially accessible depending on the exhibition. This openness is valuable as it makes expectations transparent and avoids unnecessary surprises. Those preparing for the visit can better assess the spatial situation and may contact in advance if necessary. ([kunstgalerie.fuerth.de](https://kunstgalerie.fuerth.de/besucherinfo/oeffnungszeiten-anfahrt-eintritt))

Particularly relevant for everyday life is also the note about the disabled parking space on Henri-Dunant-Straße. Together with the central location and the connection to U1 and bus, this results in a visit profile that is practical for many people. The art gallery fürth is not a remote specialized museum but a gallery in the city center that can be easily combined with other errands. This is especially helpful when one combines the visit with shopping, a restaurant appointment, or a walk. For users searching for reviews, this type of transparency is particularly useful, as many negative experiences in practice arise when opening hours or accessibility are not checked beforehand. The gallery addresses this risk with clear information and a well-findable service page. ([kunstgalerie.fuerth.de](https://kunstgalerie.fuerth.de/besucherinfo/oeffnungszeiten-anfahrt-eintritt))

Other service elements include information in English, offerings in easy language, a newsletter, and the possibility to stay updated on programs and invitations. The homepage also mentions Instagram and Facebook as information channels. This makes it clear that the gallery does not limit its service to physical visits but also considers digital aspects. Those who want to inform themselves in advance can do so in various formats and thus choose the access form that suits them best. This is important for a house with changing exhibitions, as current notices, renovation times, and program points are regularly updated. The art gallery fürth is thus well positioned not only in terms of content but also organizationally. Those who appreciate a clear visitor orientation will find here a gallery that does not hide information but makes it accessible in a structured manner. This increases planning certainty and makes the visit overall more relaxed. ([kunst-galerie-fuerth.de](https://www.kunst-galerie-fuerth.de/))

History, support association, and cultural significance of the art gallery fürth

The art gallery fürth has a relatively young but already clearly recognizable history. According to official information and the English-language page, it was opened in 2002 and has since shown contemporary art in changing formats. This temporal classification is important as it locates the gallery as an institution of the present and not as a historical museum with a closed collection. Its profile is rather oriented towards movement, current relevance, and change. This makes it exciting for art enthusiasts who are interested in current positions, new forms, and changing curatorial concepts. The gallery is a municipal institution and thus also part of Fürth's cultural infrastructure. It brings local visibility to art without limiting itself to a purely local perspective. This connection of urban space, present, and openness is an essential part of its significance. ([kunstgalerie.fuerth.de](https://kunstgalerie.fuerth.de/schnellzugriff/service/information-in-english?utm_source=openai))

An important role is also played by the support association of the art gallery fürth. It was founded in 2005 and supports the gallery ideologically and financially. According to the official description, it contributes to the realization of special exhibition projects, enables publications and accompanying events, and strengthens art educational mediation work. In addition, the support association sees itself as a place for networking within the Fürth art and cultural landscape. For the gallery, this is an important component, as it enables additional projects, programs, and encounters. For visitors, this means that behind many offerings, there is not only a single space but an active cultural network. Such structures are particularly valuable for municipal art venues as they ensure quality, continuity, and additional ideas. Those who understand the gallery not only as an exhibition house but as a cultural place quickly recognize the added value of the support association. ([kunstgalerie.fuerth.de](https://kunstgalerie.fuerth.de/foerderkreis/foerderkreis-der-kunst-galerie-fuerth?utm_source=openai))

Together, this creates the image of a small but very ambitious gallery with a strong location, clear orientation, and good integration into the city. The art gallery fürth is large enough to show relevant contemporary art and small enough to be experienced in a concentrated manner. This mix makes it interesting for people who prefer precision, dialogue, and current relevance over overwhelming experiences. The central location at Königsplatz, the regular exhibitions, the educational program, and the presence in urban space ensure that the gallery is more than just an exhibition venue. It is a cultural hub that makes art visible, discussable, and visitable. Therefore, those looking for an address suitable for spontaneous visits as well as for consciously planned art appointments will find a convincing choice here. The art gallery fürth connects contemporary art, public engagement, and education in a very accessible way. ([kunst-galerie-fuerth.de](https://www.kunst-galerie-fuerth.de/))

We arrived at 4:30 pm today. According to the opening hours, it was open until 6 pm. We found the doors closed. There were no signs or information at the entrance explaining why it was closed. We were disappointed.

Does this review, riddled with an unbelievable number of spelling mistakes, also constitute a work of art in its own right? Furthermore, I think every public institution should be entitled to a day off or the option to decide for itself when it wants to be open. Informed citizens have the option, if in doubt, to call or check the opening hours online. This would also save others, and especially the museum, from unnecessary 1-star reviews with little value. Incidentally, schools, where one can easily learn to write, also have opening hours and don't close because they're rich, but because they have the right not to be open 24 hours a day. ✌🏽

Discrimination by staff is best avoided! An acquaintance just told me about someone who, despite meeting the 3G+ criteria, wasn't allowed in (because of a disability). The art gallery will no longer receive any funding from me through entrance fees. The exhibitions were mediocre anyway, and I don't support discriminatory establishments.

A wonderful exhibition space, with mostly great exhibitions. Because it's not so big, this gallery is easy to "take along" even if you're short on time. Located at the entrance to Gustavstraße, this gallery offers the ideal way to warm up with contemporary art before being enchanted by the picturesque old town.

Germany's smallest public gallery and a charming, elegant location with beautiful lighting and very friendly staff! The current exhibition (10/2017) is a bit too individual/specialized, and due to the limited number of exhibits, you can see everything in ten minutes.
