Fürther Glanzlichter 2026: When the Cloverleaf City Begins to Shine
On Saturday, November 7, 2026, the Fürth city center will transform from 5 PM to 10 PM into a walkable light art festival. The Fürther Glanzlichter brings together art, city history, and atmospheric evening strolls – free of charge, open to all generations, and spread across twelve special locations in the city area.
Twelve Venues, Twelve Perspectives on Fürth
Twelve artists will stage selected places, facades, and urban spaces with individual light installations. This year's theme is anniversaries and memorial days. Historical memories, cultural milestones, and creative visual worlds enter into an exciting dialogue with the architecture of the Cloverleaf City.
The tour leads from the town hall courtyard through different urban areas, including Fürther Freiheit, the marketplace, and the waterfront promenade. Each station offers a new perspective: sometimes the building facade is the focus, while at other times an immersive art space is created that unfolds its effect only in the interplay of light, movement, and surroundings.
Festival Atmosphere Between City Center and Waterfront Promenade
The Fürther Glanzlichter is not a classic festival with a main stage and lineup, but rather an urban multi-day experience for curious explorers. Visitors stroll through the illuminated streets, linger at installations, and experience the city as an open gallery under the stars.
Especially atmospheric will be the evening at the waterfront promenade and around the historic downtown squares. The open-air atmosphere combines art enjoyment with movement, encounters, and the community feeling of a shared nighttime city walk. On Friday, a long shopping night until 10 PM complements the program; on Saturday, the light art itself takes center stage.
Art, History, and Participation
Since 2018, the Fürther Glanzlichter has been part of the city's event calendar. November holds a special historical significance for Fürth, as the city was first mentioned in writing more than 1000 years ago and also celebrates its over 200-year elevation to a first-class city.
The audience is actively involved: On both event days, visitors can vote for their favorite works. The audience award is endowed with 800 euros. Voting cards are available at the venues and can be submitted between 5 PM and 10 PM.
Special Program Highlights Around Light Art
The artistic diversity includes additional illuminations at the Resurrection Church and Mariensteig. In the Resurrection Church, the program combines ambient sounds, organ music, and recitation with a visionary light atmosphere. At Mariensteig, students address topics from science, technology, and immersive media.
This results in a festival evening that goes far beyond decorative lighting: The Fürther Glanzlichter make urban spaces tangible, tell stories, and invite visitors to see familiar paths with new eyes.
Conclusion: Experience Fürth Live in Light
Those who love urban light art, creative city spectacles, and an atmospheric evening outdoors will find an extraordinary cultural event at the Fürther Glanzlichter. Admission is free, the twelve stations can be explored individually, and the atmosphere connects art, history, and shared experiences. Dress warmly, let yourself be carried away through the city center, and discover Fürth live in light on November 7, 2026.
