An evening full of blues, memory, and musical connection
On October 19, 2026, the Kofferfabrik Fürth will be the meeting point for a special memorial concert in honor of Gerhard Weigel. Dr. Leyk’s Blues, Leon Albert, and other companions will connect concert, personal memories, and a subsequent session on this evening.
Blues in its full stylistic breadth
Dr. Leyk’s Blues represents a journey through the entire spectrum of blues. Between traditional blues, soul, and funk, classics and modern soundscapes meet. The repertoire ranges from Robert Johnson and John Lee Hooker to B.B. King and Eric Clapton, up to John Mayer. The focus is on an organic sound, expressive improvisations, and a lively stage performance.
Leon Albert: Composition meets improvisation
The guitarist and composer Leon Albert incorporates his own compositions and improvised passages into the program. His playing merges musical precision with spontaneous interaction. This creates a concert experience that not only looks back but celebrates the moment: every line, every groove, and every dynamic turn develops immediately on stage.
A musical family reunion
In addition to the announced acts, other high-profile companions of Gerhard Weigel are expected. This gives the concert the character of a musical family reunion. The Kofferfabrik provides the perfect setting for immediate audience atmosphere, direct stage sound, and an environment where memories come alive through music.
Session as an open conclusion
After the concert, the evening will transition into a session. Blues thrives on exchange, call-and-response, joint synchronization, and spontaneous orchestration. This openness makes the later part of the evening particularly special: the audience experiences musicians not only in a fixed program but in a free musical dialogue.
The memorial concert for Gerhard Weigel promises an emotional evening between blues history, personal tribute, and improvised live energy. Anyone connected to Gerhard Weigel or who wants to experience the regional blues and music scene up close should witness this evening live at the Kofferfabrik Fürth.
