Adventa in St. Paul: Sonoris Vocal Ensemble sets the mood for Christmas
On Saturday, December 12, 2026, the Sonoris Vocal Ensemble invites you to the Advent concert Adventa at the St. Paul Church in Fürth. From 19:00 to 20:30, a carefully curated program of sacred and Christmas choral music from various eras will resonate. Admission is free.
Mary at the Center of the Musical Narrative
Adventa focuses on Mary – the woman who bore a child, gave birth with effort, and accompanied him through life. The concert dramaturgy brings a central figure of the Christmas story into the spotlight and combines familiar Advent atmosphere with a consciously set perspective.
Between Bach, Mendelssohn, and New Choral Music
The program features works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Felix Mendelssohn, Forbes L’Estrange, and other composers. Well-known and new Christmas songs meet precise a cappella sound design. In the acoustics of St. Paul, voices, harmonies, and dynamic transitions unfold with a special spatial effect.
Award-winning Vocal Ensemble from the Nuremberg Region
The Sonoris Vocal Ensemble was founded in January 2024 and works as a semi-professional chamber choir with around 36 singers. The ensemble focuses on sacred and secular a cappella music from different eras, with an emphasis on late romantic repertoire and contemporary choral music. At the German Choral Festival 2025, Sonoris received two first prizes in the highest performance level as well as the special prize from Deutschlandfunk Kultur as the best unplugged choir.
Conducting and Stage Performance
The musical direction is taken over by Andreas Fulda, choir director, music educator, and lecturer for ensemble direction. His work combines stylistic precision, clear synchronization, and a differentiated musical design. The result promises a concentrated concert experience with warm choral sound, clear orchestration of the voices, and a festive live atmosphere.
Conclusion: A Quiet Highlight of the Advent Season
Adventa offers a contemplative concert evening between spiritual tradition, modern choral culture, and emotional Christmas music. Those who want to experience the audience atmosphere of a special Advent concert and hear the sound of an award-winning chamber choir live will find the suitable setting in St. Paul. Admission is free.
